FinFETs have a gate on three sides of the channel, while GAAFETs have the gate completely surrounding the channel. This full encirclement allows for better control over the channel, reducing leakage current and enabling more effective scaling to smaller dimensions. As technology nodes shrink, GAAFETs are expected to outperform FinFETs in terms of power efficiency and performance.
