physical adsorption

What is Physical Adsorption?

Physical adsorption, also known as physisorption, is a process where adsorbate molecules adhere to the surface of adsorbents through weak van der Waals forces. Unlike chemical adsorption (chemisorption), physical adsorption does not involve the formation of new chemical bonds. This makes it a reversible process, where adsorbate molecules can be easily desorbed by changing pressure or temperature conditions.
