Why are Zinc Oxide Nanowires Important in Nanotechnology?
ZnO nanowires are valued in nanotechnology for several reasons. First, they have a wide bandgap of 3.37 eV, making them suitable for use in UV light-emitting diodes and photodetectors. Second, their high surface-to-volume ratio and surface reactivity make them excellent candidates for gas sensors and biosensors. Additionally, the piezoelectric properties of ZnO nanowires enable their application in energy harvesting devices such as nanogenerators.
