Plasma ionization uses ionized gases (plasmas) to ionize a sample. The high-energy ions and electrons in the plasma can efficiently ionize atoms or molecules, making this method suitable for large-scale nanofabrication processes. Plasma ionization is also employed in thin-film deposition and surface modification of nanomaterials.
