This mechanism involves the binding of a molecule to a specific receptor on the cell membrane, internalization of the receptor-ligand complex through endocytosis, and subsequent transport across the cell to be released on the opposite side. This process is crucial for the transport of large molecules, such as proteins and antibodies, which cannot diffuse through the cell membrane.
