While the BET method is highly versatile, it does have limitations. It assumes a uniform surface and does not account for surface heterogeneity. Additionally, the method is less accurate for materials with very low surface areas or those that exhibit significant microporosity. Care must also be taken in choosing the appropriate adsorbate gas and in interpreting the BET plot.
