While LEED is a powerful tool, it does have some limitations:
It is surface-sensitive and provides little information about the bulk material. It requires a high-quality, well-ordered crystalline surface. The interpretation of diffraction patterns can be complex and often requires complementary techniques, such as scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) or atomic force microscopy (AFM).
