What are Nanoparticles and how are they used in MRI?
Nanoparticles are particles with dimensions measured in nanometers. In MRI, magnetic nanoparticles are commonly used as contrast agents. These nanoparticles enhance the contrast of images by altering the magnetic properties of nearby hydrogen nuclei, making it easier to distinguish between different tissues. Examples include iron oxide nanoparticles and gadolinium-based nanoparticles.
