Spintronics, or spin electronics, is a field of technology that exploits the intrinsic spin of electrons, in addition to their charge, for data storage and transfer. This approach can lead to the development of non-volatile storage devices with faster read/write speeds and lower power consumption. Technologies such as magnetic random-access memory (MRAM) and spin-transfer torque random-access memory (STT-RAM) are based on spintronics principles and benefit greatly from nanotechnology advancements.
