antigen presentation

What is Antigen Presentation?

Antigen presentation involves the processing of protein antigens into peptide fragments, which are then presented on major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules on the surface of APCs. This allows T-cells to recognize and respond to the antigens. There are two main pathways: the MHC class I pathway (for intracellular antigens) and the MHC class II pathway (for extracellular antigens).
