The NRC has begun to develop and adapt guidelines to address the unique challenges posed by nanotechnology. These include:
- Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS): Enhanced requirements for MSDS to include specific information on the nanomaterial's properties, potential hazards, and safe handling procedures. - Exposure Limits: Setting stricter exposure limits for workers handling radioactive nanomaterials. - Environmental Impact Assessments: More comprehensive assessments to evaluate the long-term environmental impacts of disposing of or recycling nanomaterials.
