One of the most remarkable features of quantum dots is their optical properties. Due to quantum confinement, the electronic and optical properties of quantum dots are highly tunable by changing their size. Smaller quantum dots emit light at shorter wavelengths (blue), while larger ones emit at longer wavelengths (red).
