Despite its many advantages, NIR spectroscopy does have some limitations:
It provides relatively low sensitivity compared to other spectroscopic techniques. Complex data interpretation, often requiring advanced multivariate analysis techniques. Limited ability to detect elements with low NIR absorption characteristics.
