Thermal properties can be significantly different at the nanoscale. For example, thermal conductivity in nanomaterials can be reduced due to increased phonon scattering at grain boundaries and surfaces. Conversely, in some cases, such as in carbon nanotubes, thermal conductivity can be exceptionally high.
