Why was ICON established?
ICON was established to address the emerging challenges and opportunities associated with the rapid advancement of nanotechnology. As the field began to grow, concerns about
environmental, health, and safety (EHS) implications also increased. ICON aims to create a collaborative platform where diverse stakeholders can come together to develop guidelines, share best practices, and promote responsible innovation.
Promote the safe and responsible development of nanotechnology.
Facilitate collaboration among stakeholders from different sectors.
Generate and disseminate scientific information related to nanotechnology EHS.
Advocate for policies that support sustainable nanotechnology innovation.
Expanding its focus to include emerging areas such as
nanomedicine and
nanoelectronics.
Strengthening international collaborations to address global nanotechnology challenges.
Continuing to advocate for sustainable and responsible nanotechnology innovation.
